WMC BOYS SOCCER FUNDRAISER 2018

WMC Varsity Soccer team raises money for the bills and training of a Companion Dog for Lucas Barton.

Here’s Lucas’ story…

Meet Lucas. He’s a fun-loving and tenderhearted six-year-old that loves dogs and dinosaurs and likes to build with Legos and Magnatiles. He has a great sense of humor and likes to make everyone laugh. He has such a joyous outlook on life. He enjoys playing with his family and friends and loves the outdoors.

Lucas has recently been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, or DMD. This is a rare and progressive disorder that causes his muscles to become weaker over time until it affects the whole body. Right now, his hand and arm strength are diminished and going up stairs, walking, getting up off the floor and playing at the park are difficult and cause him to become fatigued. He needs to take frequent breaks and rest and also experiences muscle cramping and pain.

Something that we can do right now that would give him help every day is to get him a Companion Dog. This dog will need to have special training and certification. A Companion Dog can help him in his everyday life. We hope this dog can open and close doors, pick things off of the floor, give him bracing support, put laundry in a basket, take off his shoes, get help, and so much more. This dog will also help him during stressful Doctor appointments and with anxiety.

On October 5 the Boys Varsity Soccer team and Warrior Nation raised more than $4000 to support Lucas and the Barton family.

The Barton family thanks the WMC Senior Soccer Captains, the Warrior Soccer Team, the Bradford-Royle family, Warrior Nation and Leland fans for their support, prayers and generosity.

***PLEASE NOTE: Lucas and his older sister, Sidney, do not have a full understanding of what DMD is, it’s progression or it’s life-limiting prognosis. We ask that you please not mention or discuss these things around them or to them. Thank you***

Western Michigan Christian School’s 2018 Auction is Saturday, March 17

WMC is 70 Years Young and We’re Celebrating at our Annual Auction

Have you Saved-the-Date yet?

The ground was broken in Muskegon, MI in the fall of 1948 and WMC was born.

So much has changed in 70 years…different faces, different building, different programs. And yet the legacy that was started by a group of families with a vision and a calling to build a high school for Christ-centered education lives on and lives strong!

The auction, which is held annually in the spring, is WMC’s biggest (and most FUN) fundraising event!

This event is for EVERYONE who…

  1.   Loves Christian education
  2.   Is a parent, grandparent, staff, retiree, or alumni of WMC
  3.   Loves to support local non-profit organizations making a giant impact on the world
  4.   Loves to have a fun night out with friends and raise money for a great cause

Project Grace Final Devotional: Where Do We Go From Here?

Where Do We Go From Here | Romans 8:19

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

Jesus didn’t create us to only live like him on certain days. He created us to be his image-bearers to a world in need! The world is waiting to see the love of God. The world groans for the church to rise up and look like Jesus. Giving isn’t a one time deal. It becomes part of our very nature, as our minds are renewed to look more like Jesus every day!

Questions:

  • How will you look more like Jesus as we go forward?
  • Will you do the due diligence of being in God’s Word so we can learn more about who Jesus is? What will you do to hold yourself accountable?

FINAL PROJECT GRACE TOTAL: $13,884. Thank you all who helped make Project Grace a Success!

We Are Still in Need of TAPE and GIFT TAGS. These can be dropped off at the office before Tuesday.

Western Michigan Christian: PROJECT GRACE 2017 Kick-Off

WMC’s Annual Service Project

Pastor Samuel Greer Kicks-Off Project Grace To Students

WHAT:

Project Grace is one of WMC’s biggest fundraisers and acts of compassion at our school! Each year during the Christmas season, we raise money to support local families in our area who cannot afford to provide gifts to their families for Christmas. As a school, we want to grow in what it means to be a servant.

HOW:

  • Daily Giving from Students: During 2nd hour each day, an envelope will be passed around in each classroom. Money is collected for the total. At the end of the 2 weeks, the classroom with the most money will go shopping for gifts for families. Then we will deliver those gifts to families in need.
  • Other ways to raise funds:
    • The best way is to sacrifice! Donate your shopping money, chore, babysitting or your coffee money as an offering.
    • You may also ask family and friends. We do ask that you don’t ask local businesses without first emailing Tyler Ingalls to check if they already support WMC. We don’t want to over ask.  Email Tyler by clicking here >>.
    • Group Fundraising Events: Attend the Galaxy Night Varsity Basketball Games on
Friday, December 15, where the WMC Green Machine is hosting “Galaxy Night” in which we are selling Glow Sticks to benefit Project Grace! There will be a collection of donations at halftime! Go Warriors! Donations Needed: Tape, Bows, and Wrapping Paper! We are asking for students bring in tape, wrapping and bows to help wrap the gifts we have for our families! Please drop these off at the main office!

WHY:

Daily Devotions: “For The Right Reason”: Our theme this year is “For The Right Reason” – we want to emphasize that Project Grace is not about us, or even the people we are serving. Rather, we offer grace, simply, because Jesus offered us grace first! To this end, we will have a daily devotion in our 1st-hour classes. These devotions are written by WMC students and are to encourage us to think deeper about generosity, giving, and grace!

WHEN:

Students can bring money to their second-hour class any day, however, there are little class competitions that happen on 4 different days throughout the week as an added incentive. Key Dates & Days of Giving:

  • Tuesday, Dec 5: Winning Class Receives Donuts!
  • Thursday, Dec 7: Winning Class Receives Ice Cream!
  • Tuesday, Dec 12: Winning Class Receives Pizza!
  • Thursday, Dec 14: Winning Class Receives Buffalo Wild Wings!
  • Monday, December 18: Shopping Day with teachers to buy gifts.
  • Tuesday, December 19: Wrapping day.
  • Wednesday, December 20: Winning classes will deliver gifts in the morning!
