PRAYER REQUESTS & THANKSGIVINGS (that were turned into the office)
John Waller’s (10th) parents are in Ghana adopting two daughters. Darin and Angie’s flight has been delayed by weeks due to the volcano eruptions, and now Darin has contracted malaria…please pray daily for this entire situation! (Please see the Ice Cream Fund Raiser article under “Additional News & Announcements” to see how you can be a blessing financially to the Waller family on Sunday, May 9. Praise for the 57 eighth-graders who came to the “Lock-In” last Friday evening to be entertained and hang out with future classmates, upper classmen, Mr. Doty, Mr. Kempster, and Mrs. Workman! Thanks to their parents who have eagerly chosen WMC, or are prayerfully considering our high school for their student…we are praying for you, too! Jade Coleman’s (9th) paternal grandfather died and his funeral was this past weekend...Jade also has pulled muscles in her back and needs our prayers! Please keep Dave VerMerris in your prayers…he was home recovering from his recent back surgery and had to be admittedto Blodgett due to a blood clot that went to his lung. He and Nancy covet your prayers for a complete recovery. Please pray for Shawn Ferguson (9th) whose father is under Hospice care for cancer in Grand Rapids. May God hold Shawn and his family very close during this difficult and trying time. We, as a school, would like to thank the faithful Moms in Touch group that came every Tuesday morning, week after week, and prayed for our staff, school, and our precious students! How blessed we were to know we were continually covered in prayer! For all of you who pray at home for us, heartfelt thanks to you, also! Sheri VanDuyn’s (Art) mom, Sally Veurink, is hospitalized again and awaiting a surgery. Lift Sally and Gord and the family up in prayer. We as a school would like to thank all of our students’ MOMS who so faithfully support, encourage, and desire to raise godly children! On this Mother’s Day weekend, we would like you to know we appreciate all the carpooling you do, the meals you bring in, the uniforms you wash, the tests you help study for, the money you send in for all kinds of things, for attending plays/musicals/concerts, and for loving your student through good and tough times!!!
From Doug’s Desk--James 3 This, of course, reminded me of James' words regarding our tongue. His words seem especially meaningful in this age when communication and news is instantaneous and permanent. Even small words, whether spoken or written, can be very powerful. My hope is that as Christians our words are grace filled, and that we convey that grace when we listen as well.

ADDITIONAL NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS ICE CREAM SOCIAL BENEFIT FOR DARIN AND ANGIE WALLER – SUNDAY, MAY 9, 7:00-9:00 PM AT NEW ERA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Darin and Angie left for Africa in early April to bring home two newly- adopted daughters. Since then the volcano has caused their flights to be delayed for more than 2 weeks, the adoption paperwork has been held up, and Darin had to be hospitalized for malaria, even though he had been taking daily medication to guard against it. Needless to say their expenses have been much higher than they ever anticipated. In order to help them we are holding an Ice Cream Social, serving delicious Country Dairy ice cream and yummy Morat’s cake. There will also be an inflatable bouncer for kids to play in! Please join us as we come together to show our support for the Waller family, your donations will help a great deal with these extra costs. If you would like to donate but can’t make it Sunday night, please send your donation to New Era Christian School – Waller Benefit, 1901 Oak, New Era, MI 49446.

WMCHS IS IN NEED OF HOST FAMILIES for international students who will attend WMC in the fall of 2010. Host families are paid to provide room and board, a place to study, transportation to and from school, and then good parental counsel to our students. Exchange students come with their own health insurance, their own spending money, and a desire to be in an American family to have an American cultural experience, as well as improve their English skills. There is currently an immediate need for a host family commitment for a female student from Korea who will be a junior next year. She has requested and been approved to be at WMC. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity and contact Kyle Kempster at 231.799.9644x220 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
