Hello Muskegon & WMC School Community!

This year for National Join Hands Day, Volunteer Muskegon in conjunction with the Michigan Community Service Commission will be hosting  a community wide healthy can food drive to be giving to area food pantries.

On Saturday May 7, 2010 from 10am to 3pm @ Samuel Lutheran Church at 540 Houston Ave. (corner of Houston/Webster)...we will be collecting donated canned goods and stacking them  on three human statues.  These statues represent an adult and two youths, joining hands to bring awareness of healthy can good eating.  This event will be full of fun activities and learning all about good nutrition--plus educational games and crafts!

Please help us stock the food pantries by bringing as many healthy canned goods as you can to this event on May 7, 2010.  All canned goods will be donated to Muskegon County Food pantries that serve the entire community.

Or … if you don’t have canned goods to donate, please come show your support for the need in our community!

All girls who attended the basketball meeting yesterday please stop in the office to pick up information from the coaches.

Thank you to all the entries in the Photography contest. With over 50 entries the judges spent 1 1/2 hours to select stating that these all are the best photographs yet! 1st Place-Summer Lile  -  Bottle's Light,  2nd Place-Ian Forbes -   Light Through Ice,  3rd Place-Mr. VandenBrand -  Shinin' on Spring Break, Honorable Mention-Ashley Ott - Infinity Light,  Honorable Mention-Mrs. Van Duyn -  Hemingway's Hangout.

Look for these and other great photos to go up by Mr. De Boer's room next week after they are matted.

Discussion groups will be next Tuesday and the group leaders can see Morgan Boersma for discussion group sheets. Chapel will be on Friday next week instead of Thursday because of Grandparents’ Day!

Class of 2015 Unite!  Friday,  May 20 from 6:00 to 11:00 pm.  Student Ambassadors need to be at this event.  Juniors and Seniors interested in helping are asked to sign up in Mr. Kempster’s office.  Parents, staff, and board members interested in helping, please call Kyle Kempster at 231-799-9644 x220.

All Western Michigan Christian freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who will be competing in athletics next year are asked to report to the school at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 for a sports physical. Athletes need a sports physical after April in order to practice for any sport the following school year. Practice for fall sports begin in August. The physical is good for the entire school year. Thanks to the doctors' office Orthopaedic Associates of Muskegon, WMC is able to offer the physicals for $15 each which is well below the price you would pay at a med center or doctor's office.

All 2011-2012 athletes are asked to report to the auxiliary gym at WMC at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11. Paper work will be filled out and nurses will take the athlete's blood pressure, etc. The athletes will then proceed to the boys and girls locker rooms where four doctors will be on duty to complete the exams. The $15 must be paid at the time of the exam.
