News from our Art Department:

Frames are still needed. Another art class was added this fall to accommodate our increasing enrollment, which means the art department will be going through even more frames than ever!  The most popular frame sizes are 5" x 7" and 8" x 10"-- but any size can be used with or without glass. Please bring to the art room for Mrs. VanDuyn.

Please look for Mrs. Sheri Van Duyn's artwork...

She has been creating several photography pieces. One set will be for Artprize which will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her piece will be sayings from the Greek Physician, Hippocrates-- Ars Longa! Vita Brevis! or Life is Short! Art is Long! Two panels will be depicted; one in English and the second in Latin. Each of these letters have been “shots” of art pieces that  have photographed around Western Michigan to spell out the phrase and then turned each letter into black and white for continuity. Please feel free to check this out at the ArtPrize website: www.artprize.org Look for her piece by the River Walk as her venue.

The second piece is for ART WALK which is on a smaller scale in Grand Haven, Michigan.  Mrs. Van Duyn is photographing the words Coast Guard City, USA; her piece has been accepted into the Grand Haven Tri-Cities Public Museum. While here, also look for an abstract painting  from Mrs. Agnes Fisher. All work from both events will be on display from September 22- October 10, 2010.

We are flipping 5^th and 6^th hours this whole week.

If you are interested in helping your class choose their holiday for spirit week's theme, grab your lunch and Seniors ~ Mr Falk (225), Juniors ~ The Big Room (chapel), Sophomores ~ Mr Conlin (223), Freshman ~ Miss Toman (219).

Soccer teams will be dismissed at 2:50 today.

There will be a meeting for all girls who are interested or might possibly be interested in playing junior varsity or varsity soccer at 12:38 p.m. Friday during lunch. We will meet in the lobby with varsity soccer coach Dan McAllister.

Grant McCastle, Justin Kollar, Nathan Bytwerk, and Ryan Briggs please stop in the office today.  Any volleyball team member who still have gold cards and/or money, please bring to the office ASAP!

Ultimate Frisbee tomorrow.  There will be an Ultimate Frisbee game Friday after school on the front lawn.  If you are interested, see you there.
