Discipleship Demonstration |
|
“The end of all knowledge is to know God, and out of that knowledge to love and to serve Him.” –John Milton
The Discipleship Demonstration is each student’s opportunity to show important and meaningful connections between faith and daily living. The project involves a presentation of what has been learned and discovered through the student’s service project along with a demonstration to others what has been learned and understood with regards to the student’s faith journey. Completion of this demonstration will satisfy a student’s service project requirements. Each student will make an 8-10 minute presentation to their small group utilizing their gifts and talents to creatively articulate the connection between their service project and their faith journey. Students must use some form of multi-media or performance in their presentation. Presentations might include a PowerPoint, blog, video-journal, scrapbook, student-made film, art piece, collage, poem, short story, drama, dance, original musical composition, etc… Students should utilize what they learned in the Becoming a Good Samaritan sessions along with what they may have learned from their Spiritual Gifts and Character Self-Discoveries. Students should consider and address the following questions in their presentation:
What was your service project? Why did you choose this particular service project? What was the best experience you had during your service project? or What was your most disappointing experience? What role did your attitude have in this service project experience? What did you learn about yourself? About others? Did this project encourage you to take a “risk” that you normally would not have taken? How? In what ways did you grow spiritually from this project? How do you intend to use the knowledge and understanding you gained from this experience? Why does God call us as Christians to serve? Why is it important for you to serve? How have you grown in your faith this past year?
