WARRIOR COMBACK FALLS SHORT AS WMC LOSES 64-54 TO KELLOGGSVILLE

A valiant comeback on the shoulders of sophomore center Bernard Smith fell short for host Western Michigan Christian Friday night as the Warriors dropped a non-league game to Kelloggsville, 64-54.


The quick Rockets built a 17-4 first quarter lead, but the Warriors managed to cut it to 31-24 at intermission. The Rockets led 48-36 going into the final period, but the Warriors cut the lead to five before the Rockets converted several free throws in the closing moments.

 

The six-foot-six inch Smith scored a career high 25 points and grabbed a career high 17 rebounds for the Warriors. John Waller chipped in with nine points followed by Henry DeKam with seven.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY: The Warriors went to overtime to defeat the Rockets 61-59. Alex Rop led the way with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists while Jason Normandin had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Chaise Schuitema added 11 points and Sam Mast had 10.
