Two time all-stater London Burris tossed in 13 points in the final period on an assortment of three-point shots and great moves to the basket to give Western Michigan Christian a come-from-behind 56-50 win Friday night over Kelloggsville.
The Warriors, 2-0, trailed 15-13 at the first stop, 28-23 at intermission and 38-34 going into the final period.
Omari Lewis put in a free throw and then Burris, who ended the night with 30 points, drilled a three-pointer to put the Warriors up 52-50. Burris added two layups in the closing moments.
Lewis was the other Warrior in double figures with 12. He also had 11 rebounds and freshman Bernard Smith finished with seven rebounds, including a few key ones in the closing minutes. Burris also had five assists while John Waller and Lewis each had four steals.
JUNIOR VARSITY: WMC lost 42-35. Henry DeKam had a dozen points for the Warriors.
FRESHMEN: WMC lost 49-40. Chaise Schuiteman poured in 17 points and Charles Phillips added 9 for WMC. |
