HISTORY MADE AS WMC SWIMMERS COMPETE IN FIRST MEET

WMC/MS/MHS  68, Spring Lake 117

 

Western Michigan Christian debuted in its inaugural swim meet at Spring Lake High School Tuesday night.  In coop with Mona Shores and Muskegon, WMC’s athletes represented the school well, taking several 2nd place finishes from brothers Isaac and Eli Oxendale.  However, the strength of Spring Lake’s team held the lead through the swimming and diving events.

 

Coach Schuchardt reflected upon the initial meet of the season: “I think we learned about our team tonight.  The first meet out always gives us a starting point and a better idea of where we are headed this season.”

 

In the 12 events of the meet, here’s how WMC placed:

200 Medley Relay        3rd in 1:51.71

200 Freestyle               2nd Eli Oxendale, in 2:12.82

50 Freestyle                 2nd Isaac, in 23.83

1 meter Diving             WMC was not represented in diving

100 Butterfly                2nd Isaac, in 1:00.54

100 Backstroke            2nd Eli with a 1:07.78

400 Freestyle Relay      2nd place, with lead-off Isaac and anchor Eli with a combined time of 3:49.30.
